MultiFors
The new X-Controller system is microprocessor based and controls up to 16
parameters from one panel linking up to 3 units (6 vessels). Additional analogue
input and output capability is standard with a maximum of four inputs and five
outputs per vessel. Reagent addition and feeding use analogue pumps for
flexibility and accuracy. When combined with IRIS software, the system can
provide for a wide range of control strategies (event and/or time-based) plus
accommodation of additional equipment ( balance, mass spectrometer, etc.).
Key applications for Multifors include continuous culture, media and process
development, strain selection and improvement, toxicity testing and scale-down
studies.

 |
Small volume volumes of 1 L or
less for economical multiple, parallel studies |
 |
Built - up in units of 2 – 6 vessels in
pairs providing statistically valid data |
 |
Groups can be split or expanded by
addition of more operating panels |
 |
Single operating panel for up to six
vessels, each with completely independent control yet all units can be
displayed on a single overview screen |
 |
Analogue inputs/outputs for external
sensors, pumps etc. as standard |
 |
Removable autoclavable pump heads on a
single mounting plate for easy handling |
 |
Open-frame gassing system for easy
expansion and alteration |
 |
Stainless steel housing for corrosion
resistance |
 |
Powerful stirrer motor |
 |
Temperature control using an aluminium
block for accuracy without glass jackets and heater pads |
| Handling is a key issue for Multifors and the use of removable
autoclavable pump heads mounted on a plate makes preparations for
autoclaving and subsequent set up much simpler. The vessels remain in a
holder even in use and reagent bottles plus sample devices can be
mounted on the same frame for both autoclaving and operation. Easy
access is provided to all controls and the gas supply system is mounted
on an open frame at the rear of the unit. This makes expansion and
alteration very easy. The operating panel is mounted above the gassing
system and can be removed for relocation. Up to three base units (six
vessels) can be independently controlled from a single X-DDC panel and
values for all units displayed on a single overview screen. Additional
operating panels can be added to existing base units easily to allow for
future expansion or splitting a group into smaller functional units.
